Nail Polish Obsession !!

Hello dear readers!

Today I have a fun short blog for you, about Nail Polishes ! I want to share with you my love for Nail Polishes. I have a total of 38 nail polishes, and none of them is like the other! I think that choosing the right nail polish is very important. Nail polish shows your personality and your mood of the day. I change mine every week, and sometimes I just wear nail hardner, because I prefer having no colour on my nails than cracked nail polish or which is not neat!
I have some questions that I'm going to answer, and I tag every beauty blogger who reads this to do this blog too answering the same questions :)

1. Where do you store your nail polishes ?
I store my nail polishes in a box full of muffins :) I find it very  practical as it is easy to chose one to use in this way, and don't have the problem of never using the ones on the bottom!

2. What is your favourite topcoat?
I love the TOTAL DUTY from Nailoid Results. It can be used as a base coat, nail hardner or top coat. It really gives a nice glow to the colour and prevents it from cracking for days !!

3. Which is your favourite brand?
CATRICE CATRICE AND CATRICE ! I discovered this brand lately, and loved it immediately! The polishes are really pigmented and there's a large variety of colours to choose from! They're not expensive either.. and you get a really good amount of product! One coat is enough, and they dry quickly as well !! You know every nail polish has nails and numbers.. well, catrice has the most cute names ever! like 'Easy peasy, lemon squeezy' for the green one!! What more can you ask for ??

4. What are your most used nail polishes?
These three nail polishes are the most polishes I use. The red one is from Golden Rose, (no 60), the coral one is from Classic Glamour , (no 131), and the pink one is form Catrice, (no 790, The Pinky and The Brain). You can never go wrong with a red nail polish, and since I love red lipstick, I love matching it with it. The coral one is great especially for spring and summer, again it goes with a lot of different outfits, and the pink one, I think it really suits my skin tone, I feel safe with it, don't know why !

5. What was your first nail polish ?
The first nail polish I remember purchasing is the Essence multi dimension in the shade 54, named 'Hot Stuff'. As you can see, it has only a few product left! It's a beautiful warm colour, great for autumn especially... pity it's going to end :/

6. Which nail polish is your favourite ?
Catrice (420 Dirty Berry) ... It's my favourite because it's unique! I never saw this colour in any other brand's selection of colours. It has really fine glitters in it, it's warm yet light purple, great with any kind of outfit, i simply adore it!

7. What are your favourite nail polishes for spring/summer ?
For spring and summer I love light  and pastel colours on my nails! I love the way they look especially with tanned skin!  A pop of colour in summer brightens up your outfit and shows your personality! These colours were really popular last summer, and will be even more next spring and summer! I can't wait !! :D

8. What are your favourite nail polishes for autumn/winter?
For Autumn and Winter I like to go for warm colours, nothing bright but still colourful! I think the teal one, (75, Trying to be cool) from Essence, is perfect for when you need something colourful because you feel like summer, but you still want something warm because it's not time yet.  The gold and the red are perfect for chrismtas and new years time, and the pink and purple, I've already told you how much I love them :)

I hope you enjoyed this post :) let me know in the comments below :) I might do a question and answer one on lipproducts too!!

Much love

HEART TO HEART

Hello dear readers :)

These are ten confessions a girl shouldn't do, but I still do.
  1. I am a Malta song and eurovision fanatic. I always follow them and hope for my favorites to win. And yes I always hope we pass to the final and win. Sorry for believing in Miracles.
  2. I believe in heaven and in God and I pray a lot, all day, everyday. And don't think that I'm lame because I'm religious.
  3. I don't follow Chanel, Dior, Gucci or anything... I prefer to get inspired by street style which I can afford rather than catwalks.
  4. I sometimes wear clothes I don't even like, but which are comfortable and keep me warm.
  5. I hate being size 14, but I do nothing to get thinner.
  6. I don't believe in myself, and I doubt my choices everytime I decide upon anything.
  7. I follow way too many tv series just because love stories make me happy.
  8. I am very shy and afraid to talk to people which I'm not comfortable with, however I trust way too much easily.
  9. When I'm home alone, I sing and dance to music, imagining I'm on a stage with people watching me.
  10. I have problems with time management and money management. I just can't control myself.
You're asking yourself why I put these in a blog? Because I'm not perfect, I'm not pretending to be a perfect blogger, a role model or anything. I think my blog is sometimes trashy when compared to other, more professional ones. However, I still do it, because I do what I love, and I don't care of what people say.  I suffered from low self esteem for a long time, but I'm tired of conditioning my life to make it more appealing to others.

I'm not trying to teach anything to anyone here. I may be way too honest, maybe I'll regret posting this, but that's how I am and If you don't like it, just don't follow.

Much love

January Favourite Products!

Hello My Beautiful Readers :)

Happy February! Can't believe I'm saying that!! Christmas was like yesterday ... and I haven't seen January pass by! January was quite a simple month for me ... I haven't been out a lot except for school and simple casual outings on Saturday nights. I needed a rest after all that Christmas spirit I guess, and prepare myself for these exams I'm dealing with at the moment.
However I still have some new products that I have been loving and constantly using during this whole month, and would like to share with you my opinion about them. I had my January Delights post last week with things I'm excited about, but it did not include any products, go take a look at that too if you've missed it :)  This is my first monthly favourite and I will do this for every month of this year if you find it interesting, so let me know what you think :)

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blotting Tissues. They're life savers when you have oily skin which you cannot control, like I do. These soak up excess oil instantly without removing makeup, and leave a matte finish. Try blotting your face with a tissue.. and then use these... You'll see how much more oil these blotting tissues soak up and that with normal tissue papers haven't been removed!!

The best concealer ever used! Just one swipe of this and bye bye dark circles! I have become an expert about sleepless nights during this month, but the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Concealer hides my morning dark circles perfectly :)

Essence I<3 Stage Eyeshadow Base (Eye Primer)... this baby saves my day, everyday. I have really oily eyelids, and not just oily, they are really thin and nearly transparent. So after I apply my foundation, I use this and it stays on for a whole day, It keeps eyeshadows on without any creasing, but I also use it for everyday use when I have no eyeshadows on. I used to apply concealer, but I think its texture is too thick for eyelids, but very few product of this one gives a perfect natural look. I really recommend this!

The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm, with a really nice smell (almost good to eat). I started using it because I had one which you had to use your finger to apply it, and that used to irritate me, it is much more convenient in a chap stick, and I must say that it works pretty well too.. dry lips bye bye :)

I mean it when I say... this is the best pencil eyeliner I have ever tried! I had forgotten about pencil eyeliners because I wasn't getting the results I wanted with any liners of any brands... so I had turned to using gel and liquid eyeliners ... (which I still find really good) But for everyday use I prefer using this one.. Revlon Grow Luscious Lashliner. It is very very very pigmented and once it dries, it stays on for a whole day and does not smudge.

This Body Shop four sided nail file does miracles!! I had no idea such thing existed! it has four simple steps... 1. (black) FILE NAIL, 2. (lime) REMOVE RIDGES, 3. (grey) SMOOTH NAIL, 4. SHINE NAIL. You just go over your nail with these four sides, and it doesn't just file your nails perfectly and removes any imperfections and ridges , but also leaves them SHINY... like you've put nail hardener or something ... I cannot show you how great this is... but it really worked :)

I hope you've found this post interesting and if you try one of these products, let me know what you think!! :)

See you next time !!

Much love

Baby Wipes !!

Hello dear readers !

I'm done with studying for today! so I thought to write something here before I go to sleep.
I'm going to share with you a weird secret trick I use in everyday. (I guess it's not a secret anymore :P)  I don't have kids, but I think I'm one of the most persons who uses baby wipes in Malta. I practically use them for everything, and this is a 'once you pop, you can't stop' situation because once you realize how amazing they are, you keep on using them for sure! They are life savers, and simplify your life, especially for on the go situations in our busy life!

I started using them to clean the inside of my shoes. You know, you're not supposed to use water to clean your shoes, but I really have sweaty feet.. :/ and my shoes need to be cleaned everytime I use them , especially ballerina shoes in summer ! So I started to clean the inside of my shoes with baby wipes .. I thought that if they're delicate enough for a baby's bum, they must be delicate for my shoes too .. and voila! problem solved ... Shoes are clean in an instant, and I don't have to worry about ruining them with water. The thing is that I thought they were so good that I started to use them for the whole shoe ... (not just the inside) and it turned out that they really are good with leather shoes, slippers, and delicate and detailed shoes. And can be used to clean handbags from the inside and outsde too!

Having said that, I'm realizing that baby wipes would be also perfect to clean the inside of your car ... If something is spilled on the covers, or you realize that your dashboard needs a quick clean, baby wipes would be suitable to save the situation in seconds, and there's no need of getting out your vacuum cleaner all the time. Now don't get me wrong... I'm not saying that you should never use a vacuum cleaner any more... but for extreme situations, I think that baby wipes can be really handy and helpful.

Another thing I clean with baby wipes is Mirrors, especially fingerprints... just wipe them with baby wipes, and then let them dry or wipe with a dry cloth, and you have a clean mirror which looks like you've been hours polishing!

I use baby wipes also to remove my makeup, before I cleanse my face. I don't like to remove my makeup with the just the cleanser. I think it's better to wipe makeup off before cleansing your face. Baby wipes remove all makeup just as normal facial wipes do, they also leave the face soft, like they do with baby bums, and are less expensive tan facial wipes!! They are so delicate with the eye area and remove waterproof mascara and eyeliner with just one swipe! You just have to keep in mind that that's not enough ... so you still have to cleanse, tone and moisturize afterwards!

After I apply my makeup, I always end up with my hands full of colours, some touch of waterproof mascara, foundation, shadows, etc. and baby wipes removes every little bit of it!

Baby wipes have become a must have in my everyday Mary Poppins bag! They are life savers, cheap, and can be used for everything!

I hope you haven't found this post weird!  but at least interesting enough to keep reading till this point!

Much love

January Delights

Hello dear readers !

*waves* I'm still here !! I know I'm not blogging a lot, but I have my first exams at University going on right now ... and I'm very very busy :S .. Good luck to all of you who have exams bdw give your 100% and you will do well for sure !! But hey ... still read this blog ok ? then go and continue studying !! :P This will be a short blog, and I'm going to let the pictures talk for themselves and not say a lot . I just want to let you know what I've been excited about lately . Since my social life is not exciting at the moment, I'm looking forward to explore and enjoy these trends and other non-fashion related items ... Take a look and don't forget to tell me what you think ! :)

Pixie hair cuts! As soon as my exams are over, I'm going to reward myself with a hair cut ... not sure about how short ... but I want a pixie style for sure !!

I can't wait for the spring-summer season to arrive!! I'm excited about a lot of trends that are coming out.. especially pairing pastel pants with neon bags !!

My A-line ASOS coat is here !! Can't wait to wear it !!

I'm loving the idea of wearing a coat as a dress! Ideally the coat is a bit longer than mine, so that it can hide all the dress or skirt that you have underneath.

Demi Lovato is gorgeous. I love her voice, her personality, her songs, especially this song!! In the link you can see how she embraces the idea of wearing a coat as a dress... I love it!

One Direction's wardrobe is flawless! Seriously I have never seen these guys wearing something which I don't like! God bless their stylist!

My study partner .. Capuccino!! Yeah .. I'm excited about that .

I hope you enjoyed this blog-post! Good luck for exams and take care!

Much Love

And off to Never-land !

THE PETER PAN COLLAR

When we hear the name Peter Pan, most people remember of the Disney cartoon character we used to watch when we were little. However, to fashionistas, the Peter Pan collar come to mind!! This is a soft flat rounded collar which adds a feminine doll-like effect to any outfit.
But why is it called the Peter Pan collar? Didn’t Peter Pan wear a v-neck?

In 1904, Peter Pan hit the stage for the first time. The famous play by J.M. Barries displayed Peter wearing a rounded collar sitting flat on the shoulders. In 1953 Disney changed Peter Pan’s collar to a pointed collar with a v-neck, but the rounded collar has remained named in Peter’s honour. A Peter Pan collar evokes a sense of schoolgirl innocence, but was originally worn by young boys in the late 1800′s. Back then it was known as the Little Lord Fauntleroy suit collar.

With the recent surge in vintage styles, the peter pan has made reappearance in stores and magazines. We see the peter pan collars ...

ON CATWALKS

ON CELEBRITIES

and ON FASHION BLOGGERS

I too, try to explore this trend. I sometimes feel the need to add something feminine, to my short hair and a round figure. Moreover, the peter pan collar adds femininity to edgy looks, blazers, and faux leather. In this blog, I will be showing you three peter pan collar pieces in my wardrobe, a dress, a t-shirt and a shirt.

Starting with this dress from peacocks, I love the way the peter pan collars opens on the back. Being a conservative dress, the back spices it up and makes it somewhat original and unexpected. I love wearing this dress with an opaque black or violet tights. I simply adore the look and warms the dress up making it suitable for fall and winter. This dress looks adorable underneath a mustard cardigan, which gives a preppy look, and makes me feel like a little girl in uniform.

Another Peter Pan collar item in my wardrobe is this T-shirt from Zara. Again, the back has something unexpected, a zip which makes the T-shirt interesting and original. You can wear up this t-shirt by adding a black blazer, dark washed jeggings, and coloured high heels... this will give a feminine, glamour and chick look , or else wear it with a high wasted jeans shorts and flats, and stay casual yet still stylish.

My last item is this shirt from Zara. You have seen this shirt in my first blog : click here to see. My favourite way to wear Peter Pan collar blouses is with a chunky short necklace like the gold one from Accessories which is seen in the picture. This gives an elegant and sophisticated look to the outfit. Moreover, I love gold paired with black, so I must say I love this look. Another popular way to spice up peter pan collar blouses is by tucking them underneath chunky knit sweaters.

The Peter Pan collar is very versatile, and a detachable Peter Pan collar or necklace is a great way to embrace this trend and add it into your wardrobe without spending a lot of money.  Detachable collars exist in different patterns and sizes, oversized, embellished, beads, etc , they are were popping out everywhere last fall, and are still coming out this winter.

What I love about fashion is that it is like art. As an artist is free to express himself by mixing colours and techniques to create a sculpture or painting or a piece of music, everyone can do this by using the pieces in our wardrobe, mixing and matching and creating outfits.  The Peter Pan collar is great because it gives every outfit a girly vintage look that can either be dressed up or dressed down and which you, as an artist, can play with and feel like a little girl in Never-land.

I hope you enjoyed this post :)

Back with makeup :)

Hello dear readers!

Sorry for not blogging during the Christmas holidays... I attempted to film a December favourites video... but the mission failed.. (long story ! ) Maybe I’ll start doing monthly favourites from 2011 ... I’ll put that in my resolution list! I have been really busy during the Christmas recess. I spent a lot of time out celebrating and meeting friends I haven’t seen for long. I really had a great time and I thank god for having such great friends to celebrate my favourite time of year with. Sooo during the few time I had home, I had to SLEEP and do those never-ending assignments, thus few time for blogging...

Now I’m back with my first Makeup Blog J Today I went with a friend to Inglot for a makeup session for free. The makeup was quite natural. The makeup artist did all the steps I usually do when I do my makeup .. so it was like a confirmation that I usually do it well.

My Naked Face

The Process

My opinion on the final look is this :

The makeup base/primer that was made before the foundation did really work as my makeup is still on and well. The foundation, concealer and powder were quite good as well.. they gave a really natural look and hid my flaws and imperfections. The blush look did shape and contour my face better. My face is really round, and contouring is really important to me. Then, the eye look was natural, golden and brown, with black liquid eyeliner, with a winged effect. The most thing which impressed me was the eyebrows. You can see in my naked face, I keep my eyebrows thin, to look more awake and have room to play with eyeshadow (suppost), but I love the look she gave my eyebrows with eyebrow pencil ... They gave more texture to the face, and still looked natural .. The lipstick was good, you can't see the colour in the picture, as it was soo not long lasting!!

Final look :)

Personal tips for applying makeup :

Please guys note this, to avoid having a cakey face, seriously ... do not put more and more foundation to hide your pimples... Foundation is there to give an even tone to the face, to hide pigmentation , and give the face only one natural colour. Then, if you have pimples like I do, to hide them use concealer... don't put on more than one coat of foundation to hide spots as this will just give you a cakey face... ''kilo makeup'' - trust me, not popular with boys.. the only way to hide them is concealer ... Thus , concealer ALWAYS must be put after the foundation (when using cream foundation ) This is because, foundation is applied in  a way to be transfered along your face, and concealer only has to stay on the dark circles or on pimples. We must apply concealer by patting the product with the ring finger (as it is the finger with the softest touch), or a soft brush, on the area needed ONLY, and the foundation by blending it along our hairline, so , if you put concealer before foundation, you will end up by blending the concealer together with the foundation! Concealer won't be doing its job well and blemishes will show up again. I hope this was clear enough :p

After all this, of course put powder to set up the makeup so it stays for long and avoid a greasy look. Then bronzer, powder, and a highlighter... now, bronzer is applied below the cheek bone, blusher on the cheek bone, and highlighter above the blusher and up to your hairline, and make sure to blend these three well so no harsh lines will appear.

The makeup artist gave this to me, showing the products she used.  On the picture , there is the exact places where one must apply bronzer (7), blusher(6) and highlighter (8) along the line.

Finally I want to talk about mascara and eyeliner... With eyeliner, apply it in small strokes, as it easier not to make mistakes, but the only trick is ... practice makes perfect ... practice when you're alone and have some free time, especially with liquid eyeliner... you'll finally get used to do it perfect don't worry ;) And with mascara ... how many of you do not put mascara on their lower lashes because they're afraid to ruin the look ? (iccallas kollox bil malti :p) Listen up, to have a perfect eyelash look , first of all, use an eyelash curler BEFORE putting on mascara, as this will clump everything if you use it after, and then , start from the bottom lashes , because if you put mascara on your top lashes, you will then probably end up transferring this still wet mascara on your eyelids while putting it on your bottom lashes! That's why it's better to start with the bottom lashes !

Watch makeup gurus on youtube and get ideas for different looks, but never try to be like anybody else, your face is beautiful because it's unique, use makeup to highlight your natural beauty and not to look like a completely different person !!

I hope you enjoyed this blog :)

Much love
